This Week: Update

 Notes for this Week (17th-21st)

  • I am sending your green assessment folder home. Please have your parents look at your work in there, sign it, and return it the next day. I need the work in there to complete your report cards, which are due very soon.
  • Monday: Black Shirt Day.
    • Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
    • Wear a black shirt to: recognize the struggle for the civil rights fought by Black individuals; to foster equity, diversity, and inclusion; celebrating successes; and to raise awareness and support anti-racism (to name a few things).
    • If Absent, I have put a few stories (videos) in the Special Occasions workspace in the 'Black History' section.

  • I'm guessing it will be a snow day tomorrow (Monday), if there is please see the WORK LIST to see what you need to complete. The most important things are:
    • Finish your add/subtract test. I sent it back to some of you to add more information.
    • Complete the practise test for angles.
    • Continue working on your Newspaper Article. I want you to be able to finish by Friday.

  • We will have our Angles test on Wednesday.
  • Don't forget to check the homework section.
  • Friday is a P.D. Day! (no school)

Sunday, January 9, 2022

I have moved the Angle Test to Monday (since we will be in person).
  • Please see the homework section.
  • Please check the work list every day.
  • Remember that I will be in the class Google Meet during asynchronous time (during your independent time) if you need help with work.

Welcome Back!

Hello Grade 5/6s,

Those 2 weeks went quick! I am looking forward to seeing you all this week online! 😀

I know some of you may be a little nervous about switching to online, please do not worry. It is just temporary and we will take it one day at a time. Remember, it's okay if there are some internet or other glitches. Please don't panic if you're having any tech issues, just send me an email and let me know. If you're unable to get into the Google Meet one day, you can just continue work you have already started (see the Work List) and/or go onto your online homework sites: Prodigy, Raz-Kids, or Xtramath.

There is no homework this week! I just want you to take the time to adjust and settle in to virtual learning again.

I am going to reshare the 'Work List' again since we are virtual. I think this will be the easiest way for you to know what you need to be completing. Like before, it will be organized per week. Then, for each week, it will show the Hapara Workspaces we will be using. Then, I will separate it by days - to make it easier. We will see how that goes. You will need to check this daily, as I will likely be updated day by day.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, if you see this before then, we are going to go over the expectations for virtual, I'm going to show you how to locate a couple of items online, answer any questions you have, discuss zones of regulation, and we will do some learning activities.

Here is the link for the 'Work List'. I'm still in the process of updating it.

Ms. Bontes

Important: Raz-Kids

I have updated the homework I would like you to do in Raz-Kids. Please make sure you check the 'homework/assessment' tab on the left to see this, but I will briefly explain here.

I want you to complete a reading assessment on Raz-Kids this week. This is one way to help me determine what reading level you should be at. Remember to just do your best. If it's too difficult, it's okay. Complete all parts of the assessment that I give you as best you can. :) If you are really struggling and couldn't finish it, please let me know and I will try you at another level.

If you're unable to complete this at home because you don't have a computer, I can give you time at school to finish. I want you to try to do it before the weekend starts.

If you have any questions, let me know. :)

For XtraMath, where is says 'First Name', but your first name, leave a space, then put your last initial (capital letter).
