Sites for Virtual Learning

Below you will find links to a variety of free online academic resources. These cover a variety of subject areas. The 3rd one is the recent one from the Ministry of Education.

3.   Ministry of Education - Learn at Home
- Ministry of Education created this website to support parents and students for learning at home.

4. OCSB Learn at Home
- This is the link to the learning resources the school board has posted to supplement the Ministry of Education site (link above).

5. OCSB Well-Being
- This is the link to the resources related to mental health/well-being the board has posted.

- Website from Scholastic. Just click on option for grades 3-5. They have it broken down into 2 weeks of learning. It is a variety of texts to read with videos to watch and related activities to do.

7.  Brain Pop
- Awesome online resource for students to learn and maintain knowledge in different subject areas. They have learning in the following areas: math, language, science, the arts and technology, social studies, and health.

8. Exploring By The Seat of Your Pants: Virtual Classroom
- Sign up for free and join this virtual classroom! They will broadcast "live, free events with leading scientists, explorers, adventurers, and conservationists around the world. Parents and students can join into any event from home, live via the YouTube stream and send in questions via the live chat side bar".

9. KiwiCo
- This website has STEAM activities for your children.
**STEAM stands for: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math
- The activities are separated by age groups and it has DIY project of the day.
- There are also some resources, videos, and articles for parents.

10. Coding Club
"For kids who want to keep coding at home, Code Club Canada will be leading online hangouts in place of in-person meetups. Kids, care-givers, and educators are all welcome to join as our certified instructors walk you through fun activities and challenges. We’ll be covering a different activity each week so kids will have plenty to do with while school is out. They can even invite their friends to join!"  (Taken from their website).

Cincinnati Zoo: Facebook Live videos highlighting a new animal each weekday at 3pm, and shared via Youtube after the live stream.
Exploring by the Seat of Your Pants: Live free events with scientists and explorers around the world, hosted Live on Youtube.
San Diego Zoo: Live cameras in various zoo exhibits, paired with educational resources.
Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History: Self-guided tours of select current and past exhibits.
